Fair trade certification gathers momentum

Since the last update, where I discussed the "Fair Trade Way" walk in Pondicherry, it has been a while my friends! But, I have a lot to important, positive news to share.

During two extraordinary visits to Kotagiri and Pondicherry, i noticed a healthy competition between the two towns, the hill town and costal city. Both of whom have replenished the steering groups with substantive members from business and enterprise.

While I attended a face to face steering group meeting in the iconic basement/story-telling bar at the Promenade, and shared much insight including preparation for hand-over of an appeal letter to the government. We were lucky to meet the chief minister himself.

Furthermore, we were also honored to speak to the governor. Hope of official endorsement is in the anvil.

A half a day workshop at Kotagiri with current members was heartening because I could feel they would take forward the real agenda of fair trade town.

Both the town and the city are awaiting certification.
