I realize that not everyone is RS Gold. I'm wearing one just for the attraction. Also, Andrew has no idea that I've committed him to this. Again, this is just a test. This thread is more of an "What's the deal? Are they any good?" kinda thing. kind of thread, I suppose. I ought to organize this better before I posted it. Oh well!
While I'm not certain if this should be included in the question section, the idea is to spark discussion so I will post it here. Since the advent of the GE and before then, shops have been mostly ineffective. Some shops are helpful: notably those that sell odd enough things that they never end up on the GE or sell expensive products in large quantities at a low cost, such as feathers and runes.
Stores that offer exclusive or non-tradeable goods are also useful, such as Thessalia’s clothing store, Xuan's store or Faruq’s gaming tools. Many shops for everyday gielinorians however, are not efficient and uninvolved. Today, no one is going to sell gems or jewellery to the jeweler, or go to taverly in order to purchase a mithril2h sword.
What updates are possible to make shops more useful? What can you do to enhance their utility, and what do you think of other suggestions on this thread? For example, I think that clothing stores could work better if they all functioned like Thessalia's. That way, all clothing not classified as Thessalia could be used in normal clothes. This would boost the number of customers visiting these shops, as default clothes are loved and valued by everyone. But, clothing on top can get in the way or hinder armour or other important things.
Good morning, guys! Tas here, your friend, the warm here-once, and then gone again RSOF lurker. In any case! I wanted to let you guys know about the way I was scammed and the best way to avoid it. It's something that I haven't heard of before. However, I took the whole thing into my head and made sure to warn others.
Beware of junk collectors who charge high prices for large quantities of junk. "Need 300 steel pickaxes! We will purchase them for 10k each! This happened to me. The customer bought one or two pickaxes made of steel for me, and I paid 10k for each.
I was thinking way faster than I should have, I rushed to the ge and attempted to purchase a few hundred more. They didn't buy. They didn't purchase further. When I realized it, I had increased the price to the 2k-3k and 4k ranges - just so I could get the purchase, which was ridiculously high given by the user ("10k ea!"). I require 300 pickaxes!"
I spent several mills on 100 or 200 pickaxes. The pickaxes were allegedly bought for that exact amount. When I returned to the person who was using the ge, he registered. What happened? He made/bought his own pickaxes, then put out a "Sell" offer for an outrageously high amount that nobody (save, maybe, for desperate lvl 1 cluers?) He offered to buy them - and then made public an announcement of his need to buy pickaxes for a lower price than the ones he initially sold.
When I bought his lower-priced pickaxes, the note from the GE was displayed that said the offer was over, and then he logged out. Like I said, the account was filled with gibberish as an account name. Therefore, I believe the money will be transferred to a primary. tongue.png
Be cautious of Buy Old School RuneScape Gold who post "OMFG Must Buy Naooo" messages. This is especially true if they require an enormous amount of useless item that you wouldn't normally be able to purchase. There is a chance that you'll be the only person at the GE feeling foolish and alone. Cheers!
